I took the battery's out including the small date battery, replaced and that has seemed to correct the error. My camera came back to life! Your help in sharing will be appreciated, and karma will prevail! In between each cleaning, try tapping or shaking the camera to dislodge more sand.
i'd rather doing it my way. Thus it does not cover straightening the lens barrel if it is crooked, which the text does. Then it shut off, and I couldn't even access the 'review' feature to see the photos I had just taken! you rock!

Method #7 work for me... I will not blame you!! This extra power can be useful in overcoming grit or sand particals that may be jamming the lens. In that case, try thinking of the lens as a dislocated shoulder.
