I loosen the screw at the bottom of the lense and let the vacuum do more cleaning for about 10 minutes. While I did take them out, what worked was prying the lens out by one of the little bosses, the nub, that held the cap-ring in. Hope it works for you. It really was an extremly gentle rotation of the lens which didn't feel as though it could possibly have done any damage to the camera.
