Your experience may help others. I have a Nixon Coolpix L6. However note that a lens error might sometimes override the reset option, and thus the option might not appear.

This type of a problem usually occurs if the camera was dropped while the lens was extended. There was one position on the zoom dial that will take a clear picture but it took a while to find it.
