This can normally be attributed to a dirty camera case or other grit getting into the camera mechanism. How feasible is it to reconnect the ribbon cable connectors on it? But I noticed there was a small gap and the lens was actually crooked when I sat it down. its a Canon S2IS. outright DOG of a camera. I sent it Cannon figuring it would be no problem as it is under 1 year warranty. Now, after repair, lens won't retract and E18 error code. After only 4 months, and no receipt to be found, I find myself in the same situation with the "lens error". Had that fixed but at a cost.
