They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try. The lens won't close, and won't extend all the way either. What I did was turn on the camera, allow the lens to extend, grabbed the lens casing when it attempted to close. Reinsert the cable only AFTER tapping the camera.
