I heard the same pop each time. Even though they have a recall notice, my serial number wasn't within the range specified on their site. The E18 fault had the lens stuck. i was so afraid of telling me mom, and i had planned to spend like 80 dollars getting it repaired.
Then in desperation, pressing random buttons. I shook or "tremored" my hand while the lens extended and it seemed to work. All they'll work on are Canon's.
I had already tried using new batteries, but it was the memory card the whole time. I went through the steps and was able to manipulate the lens to the out or the in position, but still no repair. Now the camera turns on, the lense goes out and in, but it will not take pics, and makes a dumb repeating da dadadada sound every time i press a button.
