After trying the other suggestions on my Canon Powershot A570 IS I tried #7 by grabbing the lens during power on and not allowing it to retract. All it took was an extremely gentle rotation of the lens. So I can't get a good grip on the lens barrel to try to pull it out. Send in for Repair. get redirected here
I gently pushed it to the side and it worked like a charm!!! Some cameras might show nothing at all, but merely make a beeping noise as the lens goes out, then in, then the camera shuts off. It wouldn't make any noises or anything when I turned it on; I just got the lens error. it dropped on the ground on top of the lens and the camera completely shut off and the lens is now halfway extended outward and it doesnt let the camera go
