I'd say that the first drop it experienced in my care was totally my fault...but it kept working. Since then it's been working fine and has been a constant companion, always in my purse and ready to catch those shots as they come along. I followed your instructions and took my camera apart. Since then it has done this a couple of times. Almark wrote: return it immediately. With some models, the factory reset resolves the lens error. It took several hours and some good organization with the screws as there are several types.
After speaking with their customer service organization all the way up to senior management and corresponding with their tech service via email, it has become evident that Canon really doesn't stand And if all fails, heck, I'll support your class lawsuit even if mine is already fixed... As it was I stripped mine more than necessary and have one tiny surplus screw to show for it. I was extremely careful with my A95 and it was always kept in a case and treated gently.
