Both times fixed FOC by Canon. You should hear a “click” as it pops back into place. The following Canon camera models were reported to have been affected by the E18 error (lens error): - Powershot A40 - Powershot A60 - Powershot A70 - Powershot A75 - Powershot How to fix! - Duur: 3:01.

Sent to Canon under some other class action and got it back the same way, code E18. Lens was partially extended, would not go back into place, E18 error.
I charged battery fully, reseated (take out and put in) the battery and SD card. If you google "lens error s100" you actually see that this error happens quite a number of times. Seems like the best option considering how much the camera cost me and it not being too expensive to fix. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. but I'm just glad to have it back!UPDATE #2 - April 5, 2010 - I wrote this post back in 2007 and have actually switched this year over to using a Nikon click site Canons are still the best but they are not sand proof as I've learned.
The links to dismantling the lens are broken unfortunately. Not sticking all the time. I can't figure out why, though, I can't find anything wrong with the camera. I then looked up on youtube for any repair procedures for this camera.
