These cameras are mostly made of plastic, and it can even happen under regular use where nothing was done wrong. I had to cycle the camera through a couple of cycles but this lens problem corrected with the installation of freshly charged batteries. Then I restarted the camera and it worked properly. Thrown in dustbin (after all self fix efforts failed).
